  • What is Astro First?

    Astro First is a service which offers the latest local and Asian cinema titles after its release on Malaysian cinema. With Astro First, you will be able to:-

    • Watch movies as recent as 2 weeks from Malaysia’s cinema release or exclusive titles which is only available on Astro First
    • Enjoy value for your money at only RM15.90 per movie (GST inclusive)
    • Watch movies which is available for 48 hours at your convenience . With Astro First’s unique scheduling, you will also be able to watch up to 12 different viewing times for each movie.
  • How much do I need to pay for each movie from Astro First?

    Current pricing is RM15.90 per movie (GST inclusive).

  • How much will it cost me to send an SMS to 32999?

    Your standard telco rates per SMS applies.

  • What equipment do I need to access Astro First movies?

    Astro First is accessible from all Astro decoders except for the Astro Max decoder. Astro Max customers who wishes to make purchases from the Astro First Movie Portal is encouraged to upgrade to the Astro B.yond PVR decoder. You may also access Astro First from Astro on the Go.

  • Where and how can I order Astro First movies?

    a. From astrofirstbest.com

    • i. Go to www.astrofirstbest.com on your PC/tablet/smartphone.
    • ii. Log in with your Astro ID
    • iii. Select your movie, date and time as desired.
    • iv. Press “BUY NOW” to confirm.
    • v. Check out and proceed to payment.
    • vi. An email confirmation will be sent to you and an SMS (optional) will be sent to your phone 1 hour before your movie starts. You may go to the channel(s) specified in the email to enjoy your movie at your booked time.

    b. From your Astro decoder

    • For post paid subscription account
    • i. Go to the Astro First Portal on Channel 480 – select your movie and press the "ok" button on the Astro remote to order the movie.
    • ii. Press the blue button to confirm your order.
    • iii. You will see a 12 alphabet unique code (eg. BUY ABCDE FGHIJ KL) on your TV screen. SMS this code to 32999, and within 5 minutes you will receive an SMS confirmation and your movie will be available for viewing.
    • iv. Your purchase(s) will be billed to your normal billing cycle.
    • For pre-paid subscription account (njoi account)
    • i. Go to the Astro First Portal on Channel 480 – select your movie and press the "ok" button on the Astro remote to order the movie.
    • ii. Press the blue button to confirm your order.
    • iii. You will see a 12 alphabet unique code (eg. BUY ABCDE FGHIJ KL) on your TV screen. SMS this code to 32999, and within 5 minutes you will receive an SMS confirmation and your movie will be available for viewing.
    • iv. Your purchase(s) will be billed to your normal billing cycle.

    C. From your internet connected Astro decoders or IPTV decoders, you may order Astro First movies via On Demand.

    • i. To order, press the “Home” button on your Astro remote control, select “On Demand” and press the “ok” button.
    • ii. Using the arrows on your remote, go to the “Astro First and Best” tab and select your desired movie.
    • iii. To “Buy” press the “ok” button from your remote. You will be prompted for a passcode; the default is 0000.
    • iv. Your purchase(s) will be billed to your normal billing cycle. Please refer to the On Demand FAQ for further details on the service.
    • You will then go through Option 1 steps (Step D onwards).

    Where applicable, upon purchase of Astro First movies via the methods above, customers may also watch the movie on Astro On-The-Go at no additional cost. Please refer to Astro On-The-Go FAQ for further details on how to access Astro On-The-Go.

  • The unique code is very long. What happens if I have keyed in the wrong code?

    You will receive an invalid or error message and you will need to resend the SMS to 32999.

  • How long do I have to wait before I can view the movie after I have sent my SMS code to 32999?

    You may begin watching the movie within 5 minutes of receiving our SMS confirmation.

  • I have sent the SMS but I have not received any confirmation, what should I do?

    It is likely that you have sent keyed in an invalid code, kindly try again. If the issue persists, kindly contact our customer service.

  • Is there a way for me to prevent my children from purchasing the movies?

    Yes, you may set the function from your remote. Just press the “home’ button and select ‘Parental Control’.

  • Can I purchase Astro First movies by calling Astro’s Customer Careline?

    No, orders can only be made via the Movie Portal on Channel 480, via On Demand and on Astro on the Go.

  • How long can I watch Astro First movies after my order?

    Each movie is valid for 48-hours from the time of order unless stated otherwise. For customers who have recorded the movie, it will be automatically deleted from your hard drive or your portable hard disk. Please note that there will be no refund if you do not watch the movie within the 48-hour timeframe.

  • Will the content in Astro First be the same every month?

    New content will be added to the Astro First Movie Portal weekly.

  • How long are the titles available for ordering on Astro First?

    Each movie is available for ordering for at least 2 weeks. New movies will be released on Astro First from time to time.

  • Does Astro First offer Hollywood titles as well?

    Astro First offers latest local and Asian movies, for Hollywood titles, please proceed to Astro Best Channel 481.

  • How is Astro First different from Astro Box Office Movies (ABOM) Tayangan Hebat or ABOM Thangathirai?

    • a) Astro First offers the latest local and Asian movies as well as exclusive movies as early as 2 weeks from its cinema debut in Malaysia.
    • b) Astro First offers customers the choice to purchase their preferred movie titles individually while ABOM is a monthly subscription service entitling customers to watch all the movies offered in a given month.
    • c) Astro First offers customers the convenience of choosing their preferred show timing (with multiple scheduled show timings available).
  • Where can I find information/synopsis on the titles?

    Each title will have detailed information and synopsis on the Astro First Movie Portal by pressing the "info" button on Channel 480.

  • How do I subscribe to Astro First on a monthly basis?

    Astro First is not a subscription package hence no monthly subscription is necessary. You may order Astro First movies individually from the Movie Portal on Channel 480 or go into the On Demand catalogue.

  • Is there a limit to the number of movies I can purchase?

    No, you have the option of purchasing as many movies as you wish, however each SMS transaction is limited to 3 movies. Each movie is valid for 48 hours from the time of purchase.

  • I did not realize that my family/friends have purchased a movie earlier. Will I be charged twice if I re-purchase the same movie?

    If you purchase the same movie again within 48 hours from the first purchase, you will not be charged. However, if the second purchase of the same movie is done after 48 hours from the first purchase, you will be charged accordingly.

  • If I have more than one decoder in my house, can I purchase movies from Astro First with each box?

    Yes, you may purchase as many movies as you like. There are no restrictions to the number of movies you can purchase.

  • How do I make payment?

    You can currently make payment with your Astro bill, credit/debit card and/or online banking. Please note that you have to pay all charges, including GST. For payment made via Astro Bill, the charges will be incurred by the residential account holder.

  • How am I billed for my purchases? Will it be itemized?

    The cost of the movie(s) you purchased will be billed to you and itemized in your monthly Astro Bill.

  • How will I be billed if I am on Auto-Debit or if I am on Direct Debit payment?

    You will be auto-debited according to your statement. For direct-debit customers, you should advise your respective bank of your additional payment.

  • Can I record the Astro First movie I have purchased on my PVR and watch it multiple times?

    Yes, you may record the movie but it will only be valid for viewing within 48 hours of purchase. The recording will be automatically deleted from your hard disk after 48 hours.

  • Are the movies in high definition?

    Only selected movies will be available in High Definition.

  • I have an Astro B.yond decoder but I do not subscribe to the HD package. Can I still watch the movies in HD?

    Only those who subscribe to the HD service or on the Super Pack will be able to enjoy the movie in HD.

  • Can I set my box to remind me when the movie is about to start?

    Yes, it's possible with the following steps:

    • Step 1: Access the TV Guide by pressing the "TV" button on your Astro remote.
    • Step 2: Navigate to the movie on the showtime of your selection.
    • Step 3: Once you have the movie at the showtime of your choice highlighted, press the "ok" button and select "Set Reminder" by pressing the "ok" button once more.
  • What if it rains? Will it disrupt my viewing?

    Heavy rain may disrupt the transmission of the purchased movie, which in turn cause disruption to your viewing.

  • If I switch my smartcard with another box, will I still be able to view my purchases?

    No, you will not be able to do so. The smartcard is paired to your box.

  • Is Astro First available for Multiple Dwelling Units (MDU)?

    Yes. Astro First is available to Astro customers who has an Astro decoder except for the Astro Max decoders.

  • What is Astro Best?

    Astro Best is a service which offers international cinema titles after its release on Malaysian cinema. With Astro Best, you will be able to:-

    • Watch movies as recent as 3 months from Malaysia’s cinema release or exclusive titles which is only available on Astro Best.
    • Enjoy value for your money at only RM10.60 per movie (GST inclusive)
    • Watch movies which is available for 48 hours at your convenience . With Astro Best’s unique scheduling, you will also be able to watch up to 12 different viewing times for each movie.
  • How much do I need to pay for each movie from Astro Best?

    Current pricing is RM10.60 per movie (GST inclusive).

  • How much will it cost me to send an SMS to 32999?

    eGift Movie Voucher is the latest Astro service which allows you to gift Astro First or Astro Best movies to your loved ones, friends or even a stranger.

  • How does eGift a Friend work?

    Just purchase an eGift movie voucher and insert your recipient details. The voucher containing the access code will be emailed to the recipient. With the code, the recipient will be able to choose any movies they please.

  • Who can I eGift to?

    You can eGift to your friends and family or even to strangers. They will just need a valid linked Astro ID.

  • What is the minimum value of the eGift voucher?

    The minimum value of for the eGift voucher is RM20. You may purchase value up to RM100.

  • My friend does not have an Astro account, can he/she receive my eGift?

    No, the recipient must be an active Astro customer.

  • How do I pay for the eGift?

    You have the choice to use your credit card or perform direct debit via internet banking.

  • What is eGift a Stranger?

    A great way to make someone happy! You may select a complete stranger and eGift them a movie.

  • I have received an eGift / Promo Code, how do I redeem?

    Go to the Redeem eGift tab and follow the instructions. Make sure you have your linked Astro ID ready. Once logged in, you may choose any movie you desire. You can top up at any time if you want to add credits.

  • What is Freebies?

    Register your profile in Freebies and you might just receive a movie from strangers. Don’t worry, your personal details are kept confidential and will not be revealed to the sender.

  • How do I add my profile to be the recipient of the eGift a stranger?

    Go to the Freebies tab and register your profile. Don’t worry, your personal details are kept confidential and will not be revealed to the sender.

  • Can I top up my value if I do not have enough?

    Yes, you can top up at any time.

  • Will my personal details be revealed to the receiver of my eGift?

    No, your personal details are kept confidential and will not be revealed to the sender.

  • Making Payment with M2U (What to Expect in Typical Time-out Scenarios).

    Scenario 1

    • At the M2U “pop-up” or “login” page, if a customer gets a message that their M2U session has timed-out without entering either M2U username, password or TAC, APG will mark the Payment Status for the transaction being transacted as “Pending”. The Payment Status will remain the same for 45 minutes and will be updated to Failed thereafter.

    Scenario 2

    • At the M2U “pop-up” or “login” page where customer successfully entered the correct M2U username, password, TAC and subsequently choose to proceed to the next step, customer will be asked to confirm the amount to be paid and confirmation for making payment. If the customer clicked the button (confirmation for making payment) and received a timed-out message, there will be two potential outcomes.
    • a.) Bank managed to successfully process the payment. In this case, bank will inform APG accordingly and APG will update the transaction status to “Successful”.
    • b.) Bank did not manage to process the payment. In this case, APG will mark the Payment Status for the transaction being transacted as “Pending”. The Payment Status will remain the same for 45 minutes and will be updated to Failed thereafter.

    Notes: The scenarios above is not comprehensive as “timed-out” scenarios varies.
